Help camp Banat 2019

Volunteers from Hnutí Brontosaurus set out to help the Romanian Banat again. Help Camp Banát 2019 took place in the compatriot village Gerník and other settlements in the area (Sv. Helena, Slovensko).

More than 20 volunteers from the Czech Republic took part in the life of compatriot villages. At the end of August, volunteers helped with picking potatoes, fruits, preparing wood for winter, taking care of domestic animals etc. They also tried milking and cheese making.

In the U Petra valley near Gerník they participated in the maintenance of traditional small wooden grain water mills and also helped with the local hiking trails. Brontosaurus were also involved in expanding the expatriate Museum in Gerník, where the annual music festival was taking place and the volunteer were contributing there as well.

At the end of the event, according to the local recipe, the participants made their own bread and baked it in a traditional Banat bread oven.
